                   Ayn Rand Stamp Introduction

On Thursday, April 22, in New York City, the US Postal Service
will introduce the Ayn Rand commemorative postage stamp during a
First Day ceremony. The event -- which is free and open to the public
-- will take place at the Postage Stamp Mega-Event, sponsored jointly
by the U. S. Postal System and the American Stamp Dealers Association.
It will be held at the Pier #92, and NOT at Pier #88 as originally
stated. The entrance is located at the Show Piers' Inner Roadway,
located at 55th St. and 12th Avenue. Follow the signs to the show.
The Postal System's First Day Ceremony for the Ayn Rand stamp will
begin at noon on Thursday, April 22 and is scheduled to last about
a half hour. Those attending will receive a souvenir program of this
special event. Leaders of the Institute for Objectivist Studies will
attend the ceremony, meet with the media, and also host an IOS booth
at the stamp show, where information about the institute and its work
will be made available.

"This is a pivotal event in the history of Objectivism," said Robert
Bidinotto, director of special projects for the institute. "Ayn Rand
is at last receiving the public recognition she richly deserved for a
lifetime of remarkable intellectual and artistic achievements.
"The Institute for Objectivist Studies therefore invites all its
members and friends to join us at the ceremony, where we will pay
tribute to Ayn Rand's impact on our lives, and on our culture."

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: The institute welcomes the assistance of any
individuals who could help us prepare and/or man our booth during the
stamp show. The Mega-Event will run daily from 10:00 am until 5:00 PM,
beginning on Thursday, April 22 and running until Sunday afternoon,
April 25. Anyone who could assist us during any of those days and
times, or who would like to help in other ways, should contact Robert
Bidinotto at (800) 374-1776.

                Article on Rand in Academia

The latest issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education has
an interesting article "Ayn Rand Has Finally Caught the
Attention of Scholars" - New books and research projects

                     March WMOD Meeting

Thanks again to Jack Wheeler for hosting a "Smartz St. Patrick's
Day Party" on March 17. Many of us can now attest to the excellent
qualities of Jack's new brain enhancing beverage, especially when
mixed with other mind altering substances.

When and Where is the WMOD Meeting?

Please join WMOD on Wednesday, April 21. Anyone who is
interested in rational discussion of Ayn Rand's ideas is welcome.
Note that our meeting location is Metro accessible. You can
either join us for drinks at 6:30 with dinner at 7 PM and/or for
the talk (free) at 8:15 PM at the Hunan Palace in Rosslyn, VA
just across the Key Bridge from Georgetown. The street address is
1812 North Moore Street. If you come by Metro, get off at the
Rosslyn Metro Exit and the Hunan Palace is only a few feet away.
Take the street exit on N. Moore Street (across street from Roy
Rogers/Burger King), go out of Metro and take a left, and the
Palace is a few feet down N. Moore Street. If you drive, there is
a parking garage (Allstate) next door to the Palace that is free after
6:00 PM. Due to construction you must go down the ramp to the
underground level. There will be a $15 fixed price dinner (including
tax and tip), or you can order from the menu.
Please RSVP to WMOD at (703) 820-7696 before
noon on Wednesday 4/21 so that we can tell the restaurant how
many tables to set up and how many to expect for dinner. For more
information, call the Hunan Palace at (703) 528-8188, or call
David Saum at (703) 820-7696 (W) or (703) 671-5119 (H).

               Future Meetings

WMOD meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of each
month. We are always looking for new stimulating meeting topics
related to Objectivism. Please contact WMOD if you have suggestions
for meeting topics and locations, or if you can volunteer some time to
arrange meetings.
