Washington Metro Objectivism Discussion (WMOD) Sunday, August 25, 2002 Thinking Straight, Thinking Quantitatively By Robert L. Hershey Lots of life's decisions involve quantitative thinking -- buying a car, buying a house, getting a mortgage, or choosing an investment strategy, Can just about everyone do this kind of thinking? Sure! That's what Bob Hershey says in his book "All the Math You Need to Get Rich." It's basically knowing how to do the arithmetic. Bob's book was published by Open Court Publishing of Chicago in October and has already had five printings. The Japanese translation of "All the Math You Need to Get Rich" was published last month. There have been favorable reviews in the Washington Post, Better Investing, and Publisher's Weekly. Bob will talk about quantitative thinking -- how thinking with numbers makes everyone a lot more successful. He will also talk about how quantitative considerations (or ignoring them) affect various government actions Bob Hershey is an engineering and management consultant. He has done many studies of energy and environment, authoring over 140 technical papers and reports in the course of his work. Before becoming an independent consultant, he had been a manager at Booz, Allen & Hamilton and Science Management Corporation. He holds a patent and is the author of two books. He is currently president of the D.C. Society of Professional Engineers. His biography appears in Who's Who in America. WHEN AND WHERE IS THE WMOD MEETING? Please join WMOD on Sunday, August 25. Anyone who is interested in rational discussion of Ayn Rand's ideas is welcome. There will be a $2 charge for the talk if you are not having dinner.
